Welcome to Genoa

Genoa is Italy's largest sea port and ruled the Mediterranean Sea during the 12th and 13th centuries. Today, Genoa has an extensive old city complete with winding, narrow streets. The port area has witnessed revitalisation and is now home to a number of fashionable shops, museums, bars and restaurants.

Today it is still one of Italy’s main ports, and in 2004 was proclaimed European Capital of Culture with its soul rich in traditions and celebrations. Genoa’s traditions hold many wonders in store, to be experienced and discovered in order to appreciate the spirit of its centuries-old history.

Weather in the Mediterranean

Genoa’s weather is classic Mediterranean—mild, breezy, and full of coastal charm. Summers (June to September) are warm and sun-drenched, with temperatures hovering around 28°C (82°F). The sea breeze keeps things comfortable, making it perfect for strolling along the waterfront, indulging in fresh seafood, or taking a dip in the Ligurian Sea.

Autumn (October to November) brings cooler temperatures and occasional rain showers, adding a moody romance to the city’s historic streets. Winters (December to February) are mild, rarely dipping below 6°C (43°F), with crisp air and fewer crowds, making it a great time for exploring the city’s rich maritime history. Spring (March to May) sees Genoa come alive with blooming flowers, bright blue skies, and the perfect temperatures for seaside adventures. No matter when you visit, Genoa’s weather pairs perfectly with its timeless Italian charm.
