The Frans Hals Theatre is home to nightly live shows, at 7 and 10 pm, as well as enrichment lectures, bingo and itinerary specific classes. They have some great song and dance performances and a highlight is a 'Frozen Planet Live,' a BBC nature video production, accompanied by a group of live musicians.

Private cooking classes are taught by the Pinnacle Grill's chef, the ship's executive chef or a guest chef, and topics range from kids' cooking workshops to desserts. The space also serves as a movie theatre, which offers three showings of a different film each day, complete with popcorn.

On sea days, there is also a daily free 45-minute live cooking demonstration by the America's Test Kitchen host, who cooks two themed dishes.) and provides great tips about techniques and ingredients. The same host offers a hands-on workshop for eight participants about once a week.

The casino has more than sixty glittering slots as well as Texas Hold'em and 3-card poker tables, roulette, lotto and five blackjack tables. Tournaments include Texas Hold'em and slots.

Located inside the spa, this fitness centre features an impressive array of cutting-edge fitness machines such as stationary bikes, rowing machines, ellipticals and weight machines, plus treadmills that face floor-to-ceiling windows over the ocean. Some of their classes are free but others like pilates and yoga are charged per class. Personal training is also available.

The rectangular main pool is located on the Lido deck and it has two additional hot tubs. The Lido's glass roof opens to the sky on warm days. The oval Sea View pool located on a broad outdoor swath of the same deck, aft, is the spot for sun-worshippers.

The Volendam offers fantastic kid and teen club facilities. Club Hal has age-appropriate activities for kids aged three to twelve and the teens have their own hangout space called the Loft.

On deck nine (the Sports Deck) you'll find a practice basketball court on one side and a reduced-size tennis court on the other, as well as four shuffleboard courts. In the shaded area of the Lido Deck, two Ping-Pong tables are popular with guests.
