What is the tipping/gratuities policy?

Gratuities are included in your cruise fare, and so MSC doesn’t encourage tipping individual staff members during your cruise.

What is the dress code?

MSC’s dress code is mostly casual. By day, guests are free to wear casual clothing including t-shirts and shorts. However, swimwear must be avoided unless you’re in the pool areas.

By night, a smart casual dress code is encouraged from guests and the cruise line suggests wearing collared shirts, tailored shorts or trousers, dresses and skirts. For Gala Nights onboard your ship, it’s dress to impress! You might also need to check any other specific dress code requirements for shore excursions and formal restaurants.

What plugs are used on an MSC Cruise?

All MSC cruise ships have a minimum of 2 US and 2 European plug sockets, while cruise ships in the Meraviglia, Meraviglia Plus and Seaside class also have USB sockets available.

Are there laundry facilities onboard?

While there aren’t any self-service laundry facilities onboard MSC cruise ships, they offer several convenient laundry service packages depending on how many items of clothing you’d like to send off for cleaning. For a small single charge, you and every other guest in your cabin can use the laundry services whenever you’d like for up to 40 items per cabin per cruise.

Items will simply be collected before midday and returned within 48 hours - normally just in time for dinner that day!

Can I use my mobile from the ship?

Your mobile phone can be used from the ship, although away from shore you’re unlikely to pick up 3G or your network signal. If you’d like to connect to Wi-Fi onboard to use your device, you’ll need to purchase one of the Wi-Fi packages available.

How much is Wi-Fi on MSC Cruises?

The Social Package: Perfect for people who love to keep their friends and family updated back home, the Social Package provides day and night access to popular social media sites, and starts from €3.90 per day / €14.90 for a full seven-day cruise.
The Surfer Package: Want to keep track of the latest news? Need to know how your team’s getting on? Or can’t quite switch off from your work emails? The Surfer Package is for you. Starting from €9.90 per day / €29.90 for a full seven-day cruise, it also includes the same access to social media sites the Social Package offers.
The Streamer Package: For those who want unrestricted access to the Internet all day, every, the Streamer Package provides full access to both the web and social media, along with audio and video at the highest possible quality. Prices start from €19.90 per day / €59.90 for a full seven-day cruise.

What are the onboard payment options?

MSC Cruises have made onboard payments simple and easy with the personal cruise card. This eliminates the need to carry cash or credit cards on your cruise and can be activated at any time from embarkation until 11pm the following day at any of the Cruise Card Activation points located around the ship.

Guests can also leave a cash deposit at the Reception/Guest Services to cover onboard payments. Most major credit and debit cards will be accepted for payments too.

Can I smoke onboard?

For the safety and comfort of all other guests, all forms of smoking are strictly prohibited on MSC ships except for clearly-marked designated smoking areas. If you are caught smoking anywhere else, including your stateroom, stateroom balcony or other areas of the ship that aren’t designated smoking areas, you could face a fine.

Just like we consider the number 13 unlucky over here, Italians feel the same way about the number 17 – and since MSC is all about cruising Italian-style, they’ve skipped this ill-fated figure to avoid any mishaps when at sea!

Can you take hair straighteners on an MSC cruise ship?

While the line previously included hair straighteners in its list of banned items along with electric blankets, clothes irons and steamers, MSC have now relaxed their stance, and guests are welcome to bring along their own hair straighteners.

Can I take alcohol on an MSC Cruise?

If you’re hoping to bring along a bottle of your favourite booze, then unfortunately, we have some bad news.

You won’t be allowed to bring alcohol onboard during embarkation. If you’re purchasing alcohol on port to bring onboard, then your items will be held for safekeeping and delivered to passengers’ staterooms on the final evening of the cruise.

If you’re purchasing alcohol from any of MSC’s duty-free shops onboard, it will also be retained until the end of the cruise.

Do MSC Cruises include flights?

Is water free on MSC Cruises?

Tap water is free of charge on MSC cruises, however bottled water will cost £2.50 for a 500ml bottle – it’s free if you’ve opted for one of their drinks packages.
