What's included?
If you book the ‘Have it all’ package, you really can have everything included. While all guests will have accommodation, entertainment and dining included as part of the standard cruise fare, guests who go for an upgrade can even have shore excursions, drinks packages, specialty dining and Wi-Fi included!
What is the tipping/gratuities policy?
A daily ‘crew appreciation’ fee is automatically charged to guests’ onboard accounts. Non-suite staterooms are charged $17pp per day and suite staterooms are charged at a rate of $19 per guest per day.
An 18% service charge is also added to all beverage purchases, bar retail items, especially restaurant cover charges, a la carte menu items, spa & salon services, beverages packages and man dining room wine purchases. If guests wish to adjust the charges, they can visit guest services to do so.
Are drinks included/what are the cost of drinks packages?
Holland America has two non-alcoholic drinks packages available starting at just $8pp per day, and guests can also upgrade to a choice of three drinks packages including alcohol, which start at $54.95pp per day.
What is the dress code?
Holland America’s dress code policy states that guests must wear shirts, cover-ups and footwear indoors. Most evenings, smart casual can be worn and clothing like shorts, beachwear, distressed jeans and men’s tank tops should be avoided.
On Dressy Nights, guests are encouraged to embrace the grand traditions of cruising and should dress to impress. In all fine dining restaurants, men must wear collared shirts and slacks.
What plugs/voltage is required?
Each stateroom has US-type outlets with 120V and European outlets with 220V.
Are there laundry facilities onboard?
Holland America Line offer two Internet packages suited to your surfing habits:
Surf
For $15 (or part of their Have It All fare), the Surf package lets you browse the web, read the news, read emails, and check out your favourite sports apps and sites. You can also make use of messaging apps, though without audio or video features.
Premium
For $20 per day, the Premium package includes everything the Surf package includes, along with audio and video streaming, plus messaging apps with full audio and video support.
What are the onboard payment options?
As Holland America operates a cashless service onboard their ships, your purchases will be charged to your stateroom keycard. All you’ll need to do is register your credit or debit card as part of your pre-cruise check-in to activate it. The day you board, Holland America Line places an initial hold on your credit or debit card for $30 per person per cruise day. After the initial hold amount has been spent, the card will be authorised for the total of your onboard purchases to date, plus an additional $30 per person per day for the remainder of your cruise. Guests should be aware that there may be multiple authorisations throughout your cruise, and that some banks may keep the hold in place for up to 30 days.
Alternatively, cash can be deposited at guest services to allow you to use your keycard for onboard payments.
Can I smoke onboard?
All of Holland America Line’s staterooms, stateroom verandahs, showrooms and most of their other indoor areas are non-smoking, including vapes and e-cigarettes.
However, there are designated smoking areas on selected ships, as follows:
